FundsNet exists to help nonprofits, schools and community groups find funding information they can rely on. These guidelines describe how we write and maintain the site.
Useful, specific information
Every page should help a reader take a concrete next step: identify a funder, understand a requirement, or prepare part of an application. We prefer specific, checkable statements to general advice.
Primary sources first
- Funding details come from the funder's own guidelines, annual reports or official program pages.
- Federal and legal information comes from the agency that administers it, for example Grants.gov, SAM.gov, the IRS or the U.S. Department of Education, and from the statute or regulation where relevant.
- Sector data comes from recognized sources such as Candid and the IRS exempt-organization data.
We link to the sources we used so readers can verify them.
No invented figures
We do not publish statistics, award amounts or deadlines we cannot source. Amounts and deadlines that change from cycle to cycle are presented as examples with the year they apply to, and we point readers to the page where the current figure is published.
Independence
Listings are not paid placements and are not endorsements. We do not accept payment to include, rank or describe a funder, and FundsNet does not award grants itself.
Dates and updates
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. When we revise a page because a program has changed, we update the date and the affected text.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly. Send corrections to editors@fundsnetservices.com with the page address and a source for the correct information.
Bylines
Guides are published under the byline "FundsNet editors", the team that researches, writes and checks the site's content.
